The graduation ceremony was one several friends and myself had prepared for. We knew he was getting an honorary degree. And despite what anyone was going to do we were going to give a standing ovation. We were going to start that ball rolling if necessary. And when the time came the whole crowd just kind of stood as one. We didn’t need to instigate anything. It was just unbelievable, and I remember that was one of those endless moments, tears pouring down our cheeks along with the sweat because it was probably 90 degrees but hotter under the black robes. We were determined to cheer every last ounce of admiration and love and respect for Mr. Gaudino.
